Chemical kinetics : The branch of physical chemistry which deals with the study of the speed or rate of chemical reactions and also the explanation of their mechanism is called chemical kinetics.
The study of chemical kinetics includes,
i) The rate of a reaction and rate laws.
ii) The factors such as temperature, pressure, concentration and catalyst, which influences the rate of a reaction.
iii) The mechanism or the sequence of steps by which a reaction occurs.
Chemical kinetics is very important in case of selecting optimum conditions for an industrial process so that it proceeds at a rate to give maximum yield.
